By Deputy Chief Daniel Donnachie
June 30, 2015

On Thursday June 25, 2015, the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company received delivery of their 2015 Spartan/4-Guys custom pumper which was manufactured at the 4-Guys Fire Trucks, Inc. facility located in Meyersdale, PA. Members gathered at the station shortly after 19:00, anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Despite a rain storm and a call for a House Fire prior to it's arrival, the members stayed on their toes ready for it's arrival.

After the company cleared the House Fire, the new Engine 38 pulled into the station at 3611 East Lincoln Highway. Members immediately gathered around it check out all the features. To celebrate it's arrival, cake and ice cream were served while people walked around looking in awe.

The order for the apparatus was placed on July 11, 2014 through Bob Pursel of Commonwealth Fire Equipment Company, Inc. of Winchester, VA. The build took just shy of one year to complete with a majority of the construction occurring in the past few months. Countless hours were spent by the Engine Committee putting together the project and making it a reality.

Engine Committee Members:
Deputy Chief Dan Donnachie (Chairman)
Engineer Rich Rissel (Past Chairman)
Chief John Cordisco
Assistant Chief Don Taylor
Chief Engineer Adam Dickinson
President Mick Arnold
Superintendent of Life and Safety Ray Stackhouse

Over the next month, radios will be installed, lettering applied, and familiarization training will be completed. Stay tuned to the website for more to come on this project...

Special thanks to Mark Walsh of Irish Eyez Photography and Firefighter Sean Barron for the great photos of the event.
