October 1, 2015

Today at 1415hrs Company 38 along with Engine 76 (Va Hospital), Ambulance 41 and Medic 93 were dispatched to Lincoln Highway west of James Buchanon Dr for the accident report with injuries. As units were responding to the scene Chester County 911 Center updated that they had at least 2 injuries. Due to this update Ambulance 41 requested their second ambulance to the scene. Upon the arrival of Rescue 38 they reported several vehicles blocking the Eastbound lane of Lincoln Highway and were out checking on injuries. There was no entrapment and 4 vehicles involved in the accident. Sgt 38 had command and advised Chester County 911 that their were at least 4 injuries and would need another ambulance to the scene. Ambulance 46 (Minquas) was dispatched and arrived a short time later. While EMS crews checked on all the patients, crews from Rescue 38 and Engine 76 secured the batteries of two of the heavily damaged vehicles and swept up the debris from the roadway. In total 3 patients were transported to local hospitals. The scene was turned over to PD who were awaiting the tow truck to arrive and Traffic 38 remained on scene to provide traffic control.

Please remember with the impending weather coming this weekend to use extreme caution when driving on wet roads. And if you see an area that may be flooded DO NOT enter the area even if you think you can make it. Six inches of fast-moving water can knock over a person and 12 inches of rushing water can carry away a small car. It is never safe to drive through or walk into flood waters.

To help ensure safety for motorists and emergency responders alike, state law mandates that motorists who drive around or through signs or traffic control devices closing a road or highway due to hazardous conditions will have two points added to their driving records and be fined up to $250. Penalties are higher if emergency responders are called to rescue motorists who disregard warning signs. Remember the saying Turn around Don't Drown

Units: Rescue 38, Traffic 38

Mutual Aid: Engine 76, Ambulance 41-2 and 41-3, Medic 93 and MICU 46
