The Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company would like to invite you to our:

THORNDALE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY OPEN HOUSE

Wednesday, October 7th from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM

Bring the kids down to the fire house for some FREE fun!!

Things to do include a tour of all of our apparatus like our brand new Engine 38 which was just placed into service at 2047 hours on October 1st! On hand for display will also be Rescue 38, Traffic 38, Utility 38, Squad 38 and our original, first ever fire engine; a 1939 Chevy purchased for $669.00. The 1939 Chevy is currently undergoing restoration but it is a slow process. Donations are always being accepted and always appreciated.

When you're not admiring all the cool things you'll find on Rescue 38, find your way over to the stop, drop, and roll maze, or dress up like a firefighter or flow some water with a fire hose from Engine 38-1.

For those who attended our open house last year, we will have the Fire Prevention Trailer again, courtesy of Caln Township and the Northern Chester County Fire Chiefs Assoc. The Safety Trailer, fondly referred to as the "Smoke House", allows Fire Company personal to show a "real live" house with staged problems. The reason it's referred to as the "Smoke House" is because it has a permanently mounted fog machine. By changing the open/close gates in the control room, "smoke" can be sent into the kitchen, living room, and/or bedroom. Several fire companies, which have large housing developments with multiple apartment units per building, have found that the number of calls to those developments have DECREASED after running a community day on site and demoing the Safety Trailer.

Our special demonstration this year will be a live controlled burn that will demonstrate how a fire grows and can engulf a room in minutes, leaving people with little time to exit the building if they have working smoke detectors. We will start to prepare for the live controlled burn around 8:00 pm.

Goodie bags for the kids will also be handed out while our supply lasts!

Parents, we are a 100% volunteer company; please come down and support Your open house! Thank you from the members of the Thorndale Fire Company; Station 38.
