At approximately 3:20 pm, the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company along with Downingtown (Minquas)Ambulance MICU 46-3 were dispatched for a BLS accident on the Rt. 30 bypass at mile marker 277.9. Chief Cordisco and Asst. Chief Taylor responded immediately to the scene as Rescue 38 was not too far behind with it's crew of five.

Initial orders from Asst. Taylor were to close the bypass at the Rt. 282 off ramp to help minimize the traffic jam that had been created. Chief Cordisco proceeded to close the bypass at this location until the Thorndale Fire Police could arrive on the scene. As the Rescue crew made it's way to the accident and the ambulance crew attended to the patients, we were advised to set up in a blocking position upon our arrival to protect the people on the scene. Once the position was established and PA State Police arrived, we proceeded to clean the road way of debris as the Fire Police opened the bypass so traffic could continue to flow. Later on, Ken's Towing would arrive and remove the two vehicles.
