On Tuesday March 20th as much of the area was preparing for yet another nor'easter local fire companies were dispatched to the 1200blk of E Lincoln Highway in Coatesville for a house fire. On the assignment were Station's 41/43 (Coatesville), Engine 37 (Modena), Engine 76 (VAFD), Engine 38 (Thorndale), Engine 35 (Wagontown), Ladder 8 (Keystone Valley) and 46 (Minquas) for the air/light unit.

Ladder 41-2 arrived first and reported smoke showing from side "C" of a 2 1/2 store duplex. Initial reports were of a fire in the rear on the porch after the homeowner was trying to melt snow/ice with an unknown device. Engine 43 arrived second and secured a water supply at the hydrant located right in front of the house. Crews stretched a 1 3/4 hand line into the fire building and began searching for the fire. Crews from Engine 76 and 38 arrived next. 76's crew assisted 41/43 with interior as Engine 38's crew pulled a second hand line from Engine 43 and stretched it to the rear of the building on the outside. Crews found fire in the porch area and put a quick knock on the fire and began extensive overhaul both inside and outside of the porch and rear of the house to check for any hidden fire/extension.

While crews were operating on the scene command asked for Fire Police to shut down Lincoln Highway. Traffic 38 made the response and shut traffic down in Caln Twp. at the entrance to Coatesville High School. While Traffic 37 shut down traffic on the other side of the fire scene. EMS was also on scene in case of any injuries which none were reported.
