Two Alarm Fire on Paul Nelms Dr

At 18:27 on Friday May 4th the company was dispatched to Paul Nelms Drive for a reported house fire. Engine 38’s crew arrived first to find heavy fire showing from the front of the house. Assistant 38 Taylor requested for the 2nd alarm quickly upon arrival to add more manpower to the incident. After securing a water supply, Engine 38 operated with the deck gun while Capt. 49 (East Brandywine) operated a 2.5” hand line until the bulk of the fire was knocked down. This allowed crews assisting from East Brandywine, West Bradford, the VA Hospital and Downingtown to mop up all the smaller areas and ensure the fire was under control and eventually extinguished.

At the same time this incident was on going, another incident was dispatched at the Giant with the caller reporting a small fire in the back of the store.
It is standard procedure that when units are operating on an emergency scene for an extended time that other fire companies will come in to help watch over the area. We would like to thank the crew from Po-Mar-Lin who arrived to cover Caln Township just in time to respond to the incident at Giant. Thanks also to the Wagontown Fire Company and West Whiteland Fire Company for assisting.
