For the third time in just a matter of five days Station 38 was again dispatched to provide mutual aide to a neighboring company on a house fire. Around 15:30 hours on Wednesday companies were alerted to assist East Brandywine (Station 49) with a house fire on Bolero Drive in the Applecross neighborhood. Initial reports indicated there were flames coming from the front of the house. East Brandywine Township Police and Deputy 49 arrived together and reported a well involved structure and requested the working fire dispatch. Engine 49-2 and Engine 76 (VA Fire Dept) arrived, each securing their own water supply and began to initiate an attack on the fire. Engine 38 arrived behind Engine 76 and assisted the interior crews with the fire attack. Crews had to battle the strong winds and an already well developed fire before bringing the fire completely under control. Command (Chief 49) did request a second alarm for additional manpower needed due to the amount of fire present and for the overhaul operations that would need performed. Despite the extremely strong winds, crews from Stations 49, 76, 46 and 38 were able to bring the fire under control in just under an hour. Command returned 38 units from the scene a short time later.
