On Monday July 21st Thorndale Fire Company along with Minquas EMS and the VA Hospital Fire Department were dispatched to the Westbound Route 30 bypass in the area of mile marker 274.6 for an auto accident reported with entrapment. Emergency responders arrived on the scene of a two vehicle accident with one vehicle laying on it's left side and the second vehicle overturned on it's roof. The crews confirmed there was entrapment in both vehicles and began stabilizing the vehicles so extrication could proceed. Deputy Chief Taylor arrived and established bypass command requesting fire police from station 35, Wagontown, be dispatched to assist with closing the route 30 bypass at Reeceville Road. Additional EMS units were also requested to assist with patient care as was an additional rescue unit due to separate entrapment's. Coatesville's Ladder 41 and Westwood Rescue 44 responded to assist with extrication. Upon extricating the occupant from the overturned vehicle, they were transported to Paoli Hospital and Trauma Center for further evaluation and care. Additional occupants from overturned vehicle were also transported to Paoli. The occupant from the vehicle laying on it's side was also extricated and evaluated by EMS. They were no injured and refused any further treatment. The incident was then turned over to Pennsylvania State Police for their investigation. The bypass remained closed until the vehicles could be removed by the towing company. Upon removal of the vehicles the bypass was reopened and all units returned to their respective stations in a ready status.
