| On September 27th, 2025, Thorndale Fire Company was alerted with many neighboring mutual aid fire companies to the 3000 block of Doe Run Church Road in East Fallowfield Township for a barn fire. First-arriving crews found a 200x100 horse barn fully involved with reports of horses still inside. A working fire dispatch was immediately requested along with first alarm tanker task force.
Rescue 38 arrived as the fourth due Engine and assisted with setting up master stream devices along the Bravo and Charlie Side of the structure. Engine 38 arrived and worked with Engine 36 to establish a drafting operation at the end of the driveway where the incoming tankers dumped their water into port-a-tanks.
With the volume of fire present and increased water needs, a second alarm tanker task force was requested. In total, over 50,000 gallons of water were used for suppression from 12 different tankers throughout Chester County.
The fire was officially placed under control at 23:41 with all hands working with extensive overhaul. Several of the trapped horses were able to be rescued. Portable Light Tower 38 was requested to the scene through the overnight hours as crews continued to work to look for hot spots.
Station 38 units were released by command around 03:18 hours. |
