Thorndale Fire Company Responds to Second Gas Leak Incident on Heather Court
By Deputy Chief Donald Taylor
September 26, 2025
On Friday September 26th Thorndale Fire Company and Minquas Engine 46-1 were dispatched to Heather Court for a possible Gas Leak outside. Engine 38 arrived on the scene confirming an active gas leak after the construction crew working in the area struck an underground gas line. Engine 38 stood by at the hydrant on Park Drive while the crew investigated the incident. Deputy Chief Taylor established Heather Court Command and instructed Engine 46-1 to standby at the hydrant on Park and Meadow Drives. FM 39B assisted with closing Park Drive to any traffic until the situation could be mitigated. PECO gas arrived on the scene and mitigated the incident by stopping the leak. The crew from Engine 38 then checked the homes on Heather Court for any hazardous condition within the home. Having found no abnormal readings within the homes, no additional fire company services were required. The incident was turned over to PECO gas for further mitigation. Heather Court Command was terminated and the companies were released and returned to quarters in a ready status.
