| Station 38 for an Engine as part of the first alarm structure fire assignment was dispatched to assist Station 49 in the unit block of Colts Meadow Run for a reported house fire. Battalion 49 arrived on location to find fire showing from the Charlie side and requested the working fire dispatch, first alarm tanker task force and established command.
Engine 49-1 arrived as the first due engine laying their supply line from the intersection of Davenport and Colts Meadow. 49-1 crew advanced a 2.5" handline to the front door but was met with heavy fire conditions throughout. Engine 48-2 arrived as second due engine positioning at the intersection of Colts Meadow and Davenport to be the mobile water supply Engine to the scene. Engine 38 arrived as the third due engine and was advised to advance a handline to the rear of the home for the fire on side Charlie.
As the crew advanced the line, Engine 38's officer was assigned the side Charlie supervisor and was requested to complete a basement check. Entry was forced via the rear basement glass door to find no fire in the basement, but obvious signs of heavy fire from above with structure being compromised. Due to the well advanced fire and no sustainable water supply implemented at the time, Command requested the evacuation of the structure with exterior suppression operations only. Engine 38 crew kept par on side Charlie operating with Station 46 and Engine 76-2 crews.
A tanker fill site was established at the Marsh Creek West Boat Launch, where tankers filled before returning to the scene. A second alarm tanker task force was requested for additional water needed to suppress the fire. Crews on side Charlie utilized two handlines on the exterior to suppress the fire on the deck, basement and all divisions of the home. Ladder 6 was utilized for their ladder pipe to suppress the remaining fire that was unable to be reached via handlines. The fire was officially declared as under control and units remained on scene performing overhaul and extinguishment of remaining hot spots. The scene was turned over to Chester County Fire Marshal's office for investigation.
