| On Friday May 13th, 2011, Firefighter Zach Groff graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Science and Sustainable Design. This Architectural Technology program has become a major topic in our world today as the demand for sustainable buildings has risen drastically in the recent years. Graduates like Zach have highly marketable skills with interest from employers across the building industry. Zach started with the Thorndale Fire Company as a Junior Firefighter following in the steps of his father Chief Engineer Lance Groff. He completed many hours of training while at Thorndale and even achieved certification as a Nationally Certified Firefighter 1 before leaving to attend college. While attending school, Zach joined the Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Company in Williamsport, PA. Currently Zach serves as Live-In Firefighter with Loyalsock and was recently honored with many awards from the company at a banquet including; 2010 Fire Chief's Award, Top Fire Responder in 2009, Top Fire Responder in 2010, and Top EMS Responder in 2010. Congratulations Zach on your outstanding achievement, the Officers and Members of the Thorndale Fire Company are very proud of you! |
