The Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company has released a new t-shirt design which has been dubbed the “Throwback Tee” to help celebrate it’s 75 years of service to the residents of Caln Township. Excel Sportswear of Trafford, PA was tasked with creating a design that steps back in time through the different generations that have served the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company.

The front left chest features one of the oldest patches worn by members of the company, which has a firefighter’s scramble centered in it and the text “Thorndale Fire Co. No. 1” to indicate it was the first fire company to serve the Thorndale and Caln Township area. The back design crosses from the company’s beginnings with a photo of the first fire apparatus purchased by the company, through the 1950’s, 1970’s, and finally ending with our current slogan “Committed to Serving Our Community”.

On the back of the shirt there is a photo of the 1939 Chevrolet pumper that was built by Thorndale’s own Firefighters, a photo of the old firehouse, which was built in 1949 and has the 1951 Ford/American LaFrance pumper sitting out front, and a large hand drawn image of the 1971 Ford/National Foam proudly displaying the original red apparatus color.

These t-shirts are currently in stock at the fire company store and can be purchased by stopping in the station on Wednesday evenings between 7:00PM and 9:00PM and asking for Deputy Chief Dan Donnachie. Small through X-Large are $16.00, 2X-Large are $18.00, and 3X-large are $20.00.
