On Wednesday February 11th the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched at 03:30 a.m. for a reported vehicle accident on the Westbound Rt. 30 Bypass involving and overturned tractor trailer off the road in the ditch.

Assistant 38 Taylor responded directly to the call while Chief 38 Cordisco responded with Rescue 38 and crew. Once on the scene we established that the occupant was out of the truck and appeared to be unharmed. Assistant Taylor located a small hole in the fuel tank which we were quickly able to plug to prevent diesel fuel from leaking onto the ground.

Clean up was minimal and fortunately the road stayed open while the Rescue 38 crew remained on the scene providing protection and lighting for Fling’s Towing Company as they worked to remove the truck from the embankment. Rescue 38 and crews returned to station at 07:00 a.m. while Fire Police remained on scene until 11:15 a.m. providing safety through traffic control while the clean-up job was completed
