On Saturday 8/29/2015 it was an early start for the members of Thorndale Fire Company. Members gathered at the firehouse at 7am to go over assignments for Michael's Run for Trisomy 21. The 5K run was to raise awareness for down syndrome which is the most commonly occurring genetic condition. One in every 691 babies in the United States is born with Down Syndrome, or approximately 6,000 births per year.

The race was held on G.O. Carlson Blvd between Thornridge Dr & Loomis Ave which meant several roads had to be manned by Thorndale Volunteers to help keep the runners safe. Members were positioned at G.O. Carlson Blvd and Loomis Ave, Barley Sheaf Rd, Links Way, James Buchanan Rd, N Bailey Rd, Ingleside Dr, Municipal Dr & Thornridge Dr. The roadway was shut down between 8am and the end of the race which was shortly after 10am.
