| On Sunday afternoon 10/11/2015 at 1345hrs Company 38 was dispatched to the area of Lloyd Ave and G.O. Carlson Blvd for the reported car fire. Assistant 38, Engine 38 and Rescue 38 all made the response. Assistant 49 (D'Amico) from East Brandywine Fire Company whom lives in the area was passing the scene and was the first to arrive. He advised responding 38 units that there was a convertible on G.O. Carlson Blvd with heavy fire from the passenger compartment. Assistant 38 arrived next to confirm that report and advised the Engine to pull past the vehicle and stretch the 1 3/4 handline from the front bumper. The Engine crew was able to make a quick knock on the fire. Upon the arrival of the rescue they assisted by pulling the spreaders off the front of the Rescue and popping the hood so the Engine crew could finish putting the fire out. After the fire was extinguished the crews returned to the station to get the apparatus back in working order and ready for whenever the next call would come. Crews had to re-fill the tank of the Engine with water from a hydrant, replace the hose that was used and put the wet hose on the drying rack, clean tools, and refill the SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) that were used. |
