On Tuesday 2/9/2016 the Thorndale area was receiving some more snow once again. Fortunately this snow fall was not too severe and most of the day the roadways remained just wet. However late in the afternoon as the temperature started to fall and the snow got a little harder the back roads began to get snow covered and very slick. Unfortunately one of those roads was Barley Sheaf Rd which is known to be bad in the snow/ice due to the curves and hills.

At 16:18hrs Stations 38 and 76 along with Ambulance 41 and Medic 93 were dispatched to Barley Sheaf Rd west of Dupont St for the overturned vehicle reported with entrapment. Caln PD were the first on scene and reported a vehicle overturned but the driver was out of the vehicle and no injuries. Chief 38 and Engine 76 arrived next and Chief 38 confirmed the report and put Rescue 38 on reduced speed. Once Rescue 38 arrived on scene Engine 76 was released from the scene and the crew from Rescue 38 remained on scene until the tow truck was able to flip the vehicle over and the roadway was cleared. Traffic 38 and Chief 38 also remained on scene after the vehicle was removed to wait for the Road Crew to salt the roadway. Once that was done the roadway was reopened to all traffic.
