Rush Hour Car Fire on Eastbound 30 Bypass

At 5:03 this afternoon during rush hour traffic, the company was dispatched to a car fire eastbound on the Rt. 30 bypass, west of Rt. 340. Lt. 38A who was on his way home from work, arrived on scene within a minute after and found a car on the shoulder fully envolved. Engine 38 made the response and upon arrival FF Johnson stretched the bumper line and made quick work of the fire.
Due to the amount of traffic at that time, Sgt. 38 Vaughn asked for fire police assistance from surrounding companies. Traffic 45 (Alert Fire Company) as well as PennDOT’s State Farm Safety Patrol made the response and assisted with directing the flow of traffic around the incident. Gazzerro's Towing quickly showed up and was able to pick up the vehicle with ease. After refilling the water tank, cleaning some tools and repacking the hose, the company was ready for the next call.
Thanks Mark Walsh of Irisheyez Photography for help with the pictures. Also, thanks to Andy Sheridan, a former Lt with the Thorndale Fire Company and a current dispatcher for Chester County for his help with traffic control around the incident.
