On Sunday June 26th, six members of the Thorndale Fire Company traveled to Seaford, NY to meet with Mike Perrone of Firehouse Innovations Corp to accept delivery of a new door prop, meet its creator and receive instruction on its use.

Mike is a retired firefighter for FDNY (Truck 175) serving 33 years on the job and has much experience to offer. Mike created the Multi-Force Door prop to serve as a practical training tool in forcible entry and it’s designed to last forever. He has trained hundreds of fire departments on this prop as well as police and military including the Navy SEALS. After taking six years to create this great training tool, it can present several doors types that firefighters may encounter ranging from a standard residential door to a more secured rear door that can be found on a commercial building. Many different techniques can be practiced over and over again with little to no damage to the prop itself. An add on training item to the door is a cutting station that allows firefighters to practice removing locks through force or by cutting them with a saw.

The crew at Thorndale was able to utilize the prop on the first training night that arose and several members got to practice on their forcible entry skills that would otherwise not be possible.

Thank you Mike Perrone for creating such a great tool, for being a gracious host and for being an excellent teacher that is always looking to share his vast knowledge on the subject.
