On occasion, members of the active crew gather together on off days to hone our skills and generally help each other. On Sunday August 14th, it was no different. A few members of the fire company gathered at the station to work on their fitness. The members set up several different stations and for over an hour exercised together to make sure they were as physically ready as possible when those tones go off and we are called to duty.

The exercises performed come from the www.FirefighterFunctionalFitness.com written by Firefighters to help Firefighters achieve maximum fire ground performance, reduce the risk of injury and much more. Other examples of fitness stations were provided by The First Twenty organization, which is "a non profit dedicated to improving the health of the American firefighter." Their mission is to decrease Line of Duty Deaths due to heart attack in today's fire service.
