On Friday afternoon at 15:32hrs Engine 38 was dispatched to the area of Blackhorse Hill Rd & King Hwy for the reported vehicle fire. The caller was reporting flames from underneath a pick up truck. Assistant 38 and Engine 38 made the response shortly after dispatch and requested Engine 76 from the VA Hospital be dispatched as well. The crew from Engine 76 however already knew of the fire from a passerby that stopped at their station to advise them of it. Engine 76 made a quick response across the street from their station and arrived with a small pick up truck with the engine compartment fully involved. The crew from E76 pulled an 1 3/4 handline and made a quick knock on the fire. Engine 38 arrived shortly after and assisted the crew with extinguishing the fire. The occupant of the vehicle had some burns to his arm. Due to that Ambulance 41 was requested to the scene and eventually transported the subject to a local hospital.

Once crews cleaned up and placed the handline back on the truck Engine 38 cleared and turned the scene over to the VA to await a tow truck for the vehicle.
