On Wednesday afternoon shortly after 2pm Station 39 (West Bradford) was dispatched to the 2000blk of Arrowhead Trail in West Bradford for a hazardous materials incident. Crews were advised that a 500lb underground propane tank was leaking due to a broken stem. Assistant 39 arrived and confirmed the report and requested Rescue 38 to the scene to assist. Station 15 (HazMat) and Ambulance 37 (Modena) along with Medic 46 (Minquas) were also on scene. Crews from Engine 39-1 stretched an 1 3/4 handline as a precaution and also checked the residence to make sure no gas was getting inside.

Once Rescue 38 arrived they were assigned to stage at the top of the street and prepare to lay into Engine 39-1 if needed. Approx. 1 hour into the incident Traffic 38 was requested to assist with shutting down the roadway at Oakwood and Fawn Ln so that traffic could no longer go thru the area.

Rescue 38 remained on scene for approx 2 hours before being released and then returned to Station 38 and remained on station covering both 38 and 39 local while Traffic 38 remained on scene until 1730hrs when they were replaced on scene by Traffic 37. Crews from West Bradford were on scene well into the night before the scene was deemed safe.
