A team of Emergency Responders from Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company were pleased to participate in the Hoagies for Heroes competition at the grand opening of the new Wawa on Bondsville Road and Lincoln Hwy on Thursday August 9, 2018.

Hoagies for Heroes is Wawa's way of showing support and appreciation to the men and women who serve as everyday heroes. The program supports local firefighters, police officers, and emergency responders. To celebrate their commitment to the communities that they serve, Wawa often holds Hoagies for Heroes hoagie building contests as part of their milestone events, such as store grand openings.

Two teams competed in the spirited competition. Police Officers from the Caln Township Police Dept squared off against the Thorndale Vol. Fire Co. in the 3-minute contest. Although the contest came to a draw, The Caln Police team won the team trophy after a very decisive game of rock, paper scissors to determine the tiebreaker!

Wawa presented each team with a check for $1,000, but only Caln PD took home the trophy!

The Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company welcomes the new Wawa at the intersection of Bondsville Rd and Lincoln Hwy as the third Wawa in Caln Township.
