The Thorndale Fire company is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/EMT per diem employees.
We respond to approximately 400 Fire rescue calls and 400 medical assist calls annually. The fire company covers 7 square miles of Caln Township and provides mutual aide assistance to Coatesville, East Brandywine, Downingtown, West Bradford and Modena Fire companies.
Eligible candidates are required to have a good working knowledge of all aspects of emergency services and be able to perform the duties of the position during routine and emergency situations with minimal supervision.
Qualified candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent, a current and valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, and must have the ability to pass a routine physical exam and drug screening. In addition, candidates must have at a minimum, Certification at the Firefighter 2 level, Pumps 1 & 2 including Emergency Vehicle Operations, Dept of Health Vehicle Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Operations Level, NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800, and current Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technician certification.
Responsibilities will include, responding to fire, rescue, and emergency medical calls during the shift. Assuring all apparatus and equipment is maintained in a state of readiness. And, will perform station duties such as but not limited to minor maintenance, cleaning, and other duties as required.
