Building Fire Assist to Downingtown

At 19:57 hours Station 38 and numerous mutual aid companies were alerted to assist the Downingtown Fire Department with a Building Fire in the 500 Block of Trestle Place. Chester County Communication Center advised units that the alarm company had visible fire via thermal cameras and had heavy smoke in the building. Assistant 45 arrived to find heavy smoke in the area but was unable to gain access via the front gate. Engine 46-2 and Tower 45 arrived on scene and was able to gain access through the front gate.

Engine 38 arrived as the second due Engine securing the water supply from the hydrant that Engine 46-2 laid their 5” supply line from. Engine 38 operator utilized two of the 5" pony sections to connect to the Humat valve to boost the water pressure to the fire scene. Engine 38 crew went to the scene and was assigned to assist with fire attack inside the building. Utility and Chief 38 were assigned to go to the roof to assist with ventilation efforts. Traffic 38 assisted fire police at Robbins Rd and Trestle Pl. Command requested a 2nd alarm for additional manpower to assist with overhaul operations. Station 38 units operated for over an hour before being release by command.
