On Wednesday March 1st, 20 members gathered at station for the company’s weekly drill night. The evenings topic was focused on the Acetylene Torch that is carried on Rescue 38. Lieutenant Stewart led the training by first going over the components of the torch, proper setup, and various safety aspects to be aware of when operating the torch. Crew members then spent some brief time getting their hands on the torch components and demonstrating the setup and breakdown.

Crews then moved outside to complete the practical portion of the evening by cutting sections of guardrail that had been donated to us for this training exercise. It was a great night of training on equipment that is not often utilized but when required, crews need to be proficient in using.
