Utility 38-1 is used to transport personnel to training classes and responds to incidents involving trees and wires as well as serving as a secondary traffic control unit when needed. It also responds as part of the Trench Rescue Team for the Chester County Rescue Task Force to transport Thorndale's Rescue Technicians. It is equipped with four-wheel drive and is used during inclement weather to prelimarily access incidents and transport fire and rescue equipment.
